A graduate from HEC, Edith Cresson is the only woman to have been the Prime Minister of France. (15 May 1991 - 12 April 1992).
She was elected as a deputy in 1981 and 1988. Her move into the government as Agricultural Minister from 1981 to 1983 has reinforced her local position. She was elected as General Councillor in 1982, and was later re-elected in 1988 and 1994. She was the Mayor of Châtellerault in 1983 (being re-elected in 1989 and 1995).
Between 1983 and 1984 she was the Minister for Foreign Trade and Tourism under the Mauroy government. From 1984 to 1986 she was Minister for Industrial Redeployment and Foreign trade under the Fabius government. From 1988 to 1990 she held the position of European Affairs during the Rocard government. More recently, from 1994 to 1999: she has been the European Commissioner in charge of Science and Research and Development.

Born of aristocratic parents, he is directly descended from Charles X via the Duke de Berry.

François Loos is a poly-technician and engineer from the Corps des Mines. He was elected as a Regional Councillor in Alsace in 1992 and afterwards, as the deputy for the Bas-Rhine in 1993. He has been vice-President of the regional Council of Alsace since 1996. Re-elected as a deputy in 1997, and again, in the first ballot on 9 June 2002. He has presided over the Commission for enquiries into Industrial risk in France since the catastrophe in Toulouse, in 2001. At the end of 2004, François Loos was the founder of a new European think tank in Strasbourg.
From May to June 2002, he was minister for Higher Education and Research. Between June 2002 and May 2005, he was the Minister delegate for Foreign Trade. From May 2005 to May 2007, he was delegate minister for Industry under the Government of Dominique de Villepin.

He was elected deputy for the first time on 29 November 1998, in the third round of the ballots in Eure, succeeding Ladislas Poniatowski. He was re-elected on 16 June 2002.
